June 2017 District Report

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

District ReportDear Friend,

Summer is here, and the 2017 legislative session is past the half way point.  I would like to continue to encourage constituents to send in comments on various legislative issues. As your representative in Sacramento, your opinions and thoughts are invaluable in helping me make decisions on legislation. I take all remarks into consideration when I analyze each bill that comes before the Assembly. Please continue to submit your comments via the contact section on my website.

I hosted a Budget Town Hall earlier this month, and I would like to thank everyone who attended and provided feedback. During the Q&A portion of the event, topics included California’s current health care debate, protecting the environment, and creating good-paying jobs.  Additionally, I focused on California's proposed 2017-18 state budget, which I will be voting on this week. It was great to see firsthand the community’s engagement on such a variety of issues. If you were not able to make it to the Town Hall, you can always share your thoughts and opinions with me by visiting my website.

In this month’s district report, you’ll find updates and information on the following topics:

  • Budget Town Hall
  • Upcoming Events
  • Legislative Update
  • Question of the Month – What are your thoughts on these legislative issues?
  • Small Business of the Year Honoree
  • Tip of the Month – Summer Energy Savings
  • Around the Valley

As always, if you need assistance with a state agency or if you would like to invite me to a community event, please do not hesitate to contact me at your district office by calling (818) 904-3840 or emailing me at Assemblymember.Dababneh@assembly.ca.gov

March 2017 District Report

Friday, March 10, 2017

District ReportAs your representative, I am proud to have recently introduced and co-authored legislation that will address issues affecting our community and state. These proposed laws will help improve educational opportunities for our students, provide greater environmental protections for our communities, help to improve our local economy, protect consumers and seniors from fraud and data breaches, end the inhumane and cruel business of puppy mills, and work to prevent violent crimes in our state. To learn more please visit the Legislative Update section below.

I want to thank everyone who attended our Community Meeting in February. Valley residents asked questions and shared personal stories about their concerns and hopes for our community and nation. It was inspiring to see the amount of energy and determination present in the over 1,000 individuals who attended. I encourage everyone to continue to be engaged in our community and your government, and I will continue to hold Community Meetings and Town Halls to hear your voices. To give everyone in our community the opportunity to have their voices heard I will be hosting our next Community Meeting on March 30th at the Westfield Topanga Community Center at the Topanga Westfield Shopping Center from 5:30 – 7 pm.

As always, if you need assistance with a state agency or if you would like to invite me to a community event, please do not hesitate to contact me at your district office at (818) 904-3840 or through the website at http://asmdc.org/members/a45.

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

District ReportThe 2017 legislative session began in January and I am working on legislation to address issues and challenges facing our community and state. These items include legislation to increase consumer protections, protect our natural resources and environment, expand educational opportunities for our students, and reduce the influence of big money and special interests in our government. Governor Brown has released the 2017-2018 proposed state budget which allocates how much money will be given to various state programs and services. To learn more about the Governor's proposed state budget and to share your budget priorities with me please visit the 2017-2018 Proposed State Budget section below.

Following the election, my office received hundreds of calls from constituents like you who want to get involved in the government process and have ideas for how to move California forward. For those with proposals, I just launched the "There Ought to be a Law" section on my website for the 2017-2018 legislative session. If you have a legislative idea, please submit them through my website at https://a45.asmdc.org/there-ought-be-law and your idea could one day become law.

You can also share your thoughts about the proposed state budget and ideas for possible legislation at the Community Meeting with Special Guest Congressman Brad Sherman on Friday, February 24. For more information visit the Upcoming Events section below.

As always, if my office can be of further assistance, or if you would like to invite me to a community event, please do not hesitate to contact me at (818) 904-3840 or through my website at http://asmdc.org/members/a45.

Dear Friends and Valley Residents,

District ReportOn November 8th, I had the honor to be elected to a second full term as your Assemblymember. I will be sworn in on December 5th and look forward to serving our community and state.

Since the election my office and I have received countless emails, phone calls, and had conversations at events with individuals who want to get more involved in our community. They want to help find and work on solutions to the challenges our state faces. In my first three years in office I have held dozens of town halls and community meetings to give residents of the Valley an opportunity to hear about the issues I am working on in Sacramento and to get their input on pending legislation. On December 3rd, I will be holding a Winter Community Meeting and Canned Food Drive where I look forward to hearing from residents about how to improve our community and hear their priorities. Whether you are an individual with a legislative proposal or are part of a community group looking to partner with my office to solve a problem our community is facing, I look forward to meeting you at this community meeting. We will also have our constituent services staff there to assist individuals with issues regarding state agencies.

Earlier this month we celebrated Veterans Day to honor those who have bravely served our country. My office, as well as the West Valley – Warner Center Chamber of Commerce and all Rodeo Realty locations, have been working together to collect gently used and new men’s and women’s suits to benefit Suits for Soldiers. All donated items will be donated to veterans who are returning to the workforce. Thank you to all who have generously donated to this great cause to support our veterans. For more information visit the “Suits for Soldiers” Clothing Drive section below.

As always, my office also remains available to assist you if you are experiencing any issues with a state agency, including the DMV or the FTB. If my office can be of further assistance, or if you would like to invite me to a community event, please do not hesitate to contact me at (818) 904-3840 or through my website at http://asmdc.org/members/a45.

Sincerely,
