(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Matt Dababneh (D-Encino), a joint author of AB 485 with Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell (D-Long Beach) joined animal rights activists, caregivers and business owners for a rally at the State Capitol to mark the passage of the Pet Rescue and Adoption Act from the Assembly Committee on Business and Professions. AB 485, requires all dogs, cats, and rabbits offered for retail sale in California pet stores to be obtained by an animal shelter or non-profit rescue organization. “This bill is an important step in ending the inhumane and deplorable breeding practices of puppy mills, and fostering increased adoption opportunities for pets at local shelters,” said Assemblymember Dababneh.
