Mary's Village Ground Breaking

(San Bernardino, CA) Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D - Highland) issues the following statement on the groundbreaking for the future site of Mary’s Village, the first transitional housing complex for men in San Bernardino County, which took place last Wednesday. This is a result of a years long collaboration between leadership from Mary’s Mercy Center, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, County of San Bernardino, and City of San Bernardino.

“We must act on the issue of homelessness in San Bernardino,” said Assemblymember Ramos. “I applaud Mary’s Mercy Center for bringing stakeholders together to get this project off the ground. They have a proven track record with their operation of Veronica’s Home of Mercy for women and children experiencing homelessness, and I am excited to see the positive impacts of Mary’s Village when it is completed."

Mary’s Village will have facilities to serve approximately 100 men and will provide short-term transitional housing, vocational education, job training, comprehensive case management and other services as needed. Funding for Mary’s Village comes in part by a $7.3 million grant provided by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians to Mary’s Mercy Center.
