(Sacramento, CA) – Following the Assembly Appropriations Committee hearing today Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D – Highland) had four bills approved to continue onto the Assembly floor.
“It is with great pleasure that the bills I’ve championed on cultural preservation, workplace safety, apprenticeship programs, and pupil suicide prevention have moved out of the Appropriations Committee and can be voted on by the full Assembly. Each of these bills mean a lot to me personally and the constituents who can benefit from them,” said Assemblymember Ramos.
The four bills that cleared are:
- AB 275 which will strengthen the relationship between the California Native American Heritage Commission and state agencies, while also requiring state agencies to consider “tribal traditional knowledge” as comparable or greater than other nontribal sources of information.
- AB 529 which will prohibit mandatory overtime for psychiatric technicians and assistants who work in state facilities.
- AB 1558 which will expand apprenticeship programs in high school.
- AB 1767 which will expand school district suicide prevention policies to grades 1 to 6 that is age appropriate.
All four bills now head to the Assembly floor to be voted on before they move to the Senate.
