SACRAMENTO—State lawmakers approved on their last night of session a measure to help close an urgent need for children’s residential psychiatric beds. The measure, AB 226, was introduced by Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-Highland) and received bipartisan and unanimous support from the CA State Legislature.
SACRAMENTO—A measure requiring school districts and other school agencies to notify apprenticeship programs about upcoming college and career fairs to increase student awareness of careers in the trades heads to the governor after a unanimous bipartisan Senate floor vote of 39-0 on Monday. SACRAMENTO—A measure to grant state Judicial Branch employees the first-ever paid state holiday on California Native American Day will head to Gov. Gavin Newson after the Assembly concurred today in Senate amendments on a 73-0 bipartisan vote. The bill, AB 855, was introduced by Assembly James C. Ramos (D-Highland).
SACRAMENTO—California’s State Senate today approved placement of a monument honoring Sacramento-area tribes in Capitol Park at the former site of a sculpture commemorating Junipero Serra, controversial founder of the state’s mission system. The bill, AB 338, authored by Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-Highland) was approved on a bipartisan vote of 28 to 2 and will next go to Gov. Gavin Newsom.

SACRAMENTO –A measure to help ensure Native American students may exercise their right to wear items of spiritual or cultural significance at high school graduations was approved today on a bipartisan vote of 64-0. The measure, AB 945, by Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-Highland) will be sent to the Senate.
SACRAMENTO—Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-Highland) today hailed inclusion of ongoing funding for the Office of Suicide Prevention in the governor’s May Revise. Last year Ramos successfully authored AB 2112, which created the mental health office within the state’s Department of Public Health but without secured funding.
SACRAMENTO—The Assembly today unanimously approved a resolution designating May as California Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Awareness Month; it was introduced by Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-Highland).

AB 855, by Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-Highland), heads to the state Senate on a unanimous 72-0 bipartisan vote.
SACRAMENTO—With approval today by the Assembly Appropriations Committee today, a measure to allow state and local court employees to receive a paid holiday in celebration of California Native American Day will go to the full Assembly.
