SACRAMENTO—When teaching about the Spanish Mission and Gold Rush Eras, California public schools would be required to teach the true history of the impact on California Native Americans during those periods if AB 1821, is approved. SACRAMENTO—Prosecutors will find it easier to seek sterner penalties against retail theft suspects if a bill, AB 1772, introduced today by Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-San Bernardino) is approved by the legislature, governor and then wins voter approval. If approved, store thefts would no longer be processed as a misdemeanor with no jail time if a suspect has been convicted of two or more specified theft-related offenses, and punishment could range from imprisonment in the county jail ranging from six months to as long as three years.
SACRAMENTO—Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-San Bernardino) issued the following statement today after the Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved a motion recently requesting a report from the Los Angeles Police Department about implementing the state’s nearly year-old Feather Alert system. Ramos authored the legislation that alerts the public when a Native American individual goes missing, similar to AMBER alerts.
SACRAMENTO—Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-Highland) today announced he is strengthening health and clean air protections in his bill, AB 1748, regarding siting of local warehouses as early as this week.
The amended version of the legislation will be heard in the 2024 legislative session in the Assembly Appropriations Committee. A date has not yet been determined for the hearing.
