Ramos Vessel Operator Bill Heads to Senate

(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D – Highland) is pleased to announce that his bill clarifying who is legally held accountable for operating a vessel on our state’s waterways has cleared the Assembly chamber and will now move to the Senate.

(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D – Highland) joined Assemblymember Reggie Jones Sawyer (D – South Los Angeles) today in calling for $10 million for the Tribal Youth Diversion program, as part of the request for a $100 million Youth Reinvestment Grant. Both programs seek to reduce juvenile contact with the justice system.

Ramos Victims’ Rights Bill Clears Assembly

(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D – Highland) is proud to announce AB 433, requiring crime victims and their attorneys be made aware of early termination of probation, has cleared the Assembly on a 73-1 vote.

“In cases where a restitution order has been granted by a judge and there is an early termination of probation, if this order is not finalized, the victim can be saddled with immense financial cost alongside the burden of victimization. This bill gives victims a voice and ensures they have the opportunity to seek restitution through the judicial process,” said Assemblymember Ramos.

Ramos and Reyes Veterans Cybersecurity Bill Clears Assembly

(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D – Highland) is excited that his bill assisting veterans with cybersecurity employment has cleared the Assembly and will continue on to the Senate.

“When our veterans return home and seek civilian employment, it’s important they know we’re there for them. For veterans who have previous cybersecurity experience and have a security clearance, this bill will help them quickly transition from military service to their new career,” said Assemblymember Ramos.

Ramos Authored Behavioral/Mental Health Bills Pass Committee

(Sacramento, CA) – Two bills authored by Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-Highland), AB 1601 which strengthens the Office of Emergency Services (OES) to provide behavioral health services during times of crisis, and AB 529 which prohibits mandatory overtime for any psychiatric technician or assistant working in state facilities, have passed their first committees.
